Client: Bath University

Our role

The Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) will be a global centre of excellence, delivering transformational research and innovation into advanced propulsion systems. Located at the Bristol and Bath Science Park, IAAPS will lead the development of ultra-low emission vehicles and new businesses to the region, generating economic growth.

The IAAPS facility will position the UK as a global competitor, focusing on new environmentally healthy cars, supporting the economy and upskilling our current workforce to take on the challenges of the future. Nationally IAAPS will stimulate £67 million in research and development between 2020 and 2025.

Active Thinking, in partnership with 3Adapt, worked with the University of Bath client team to help define and shape the key experiential project requirements. These were then used to inform the development and assessment of feasibility stage options to deliver the most value for a range of stakeholders within the project’s budget. This involved working closely with lead consultant, Stide Treglown and specialist automotive architects DKA to develop and coordinate the design of the complex testing facilities.
